Curiosity killed the cat...and is killing my budget!

I love how naturally curious Camden is. he loves to do science experiments and is always asking questions about the world around him. But...sometimes his curiosity gets him into a little bit of trouble. A couple of months ago, I noticed a hole in the couch. Assuming that it had gotten snagged on some sandals or somthing, I didn't think much of it, although I thought it was strange since there was no other wear and tear in that area. I later asked Camden if he knew what had happened, and he got this look...you know the one...I knew he knew what had happened. I told him I wouldn't get mad and he told me that he had cut a hole into the couch with scissors. "Why did you do that?" I asked. "I wanted to see what was inside the cushion." He was a bit embarrased when I showed him that we could have simply unzipped the cushion covers, but the lesson was learned...I thought.

A couple of days later I found my pampered chef bamboo tongs broken-he had stretched them to see how far they would stretch before they would break.

Fast forward to the other day-he brings his leapster to me and tells me that it isn't working. Assuming it just needs new batteries, I pull the old ones out and replace them, noting some water around the batteries. "Hmmmm..." I thought. The leapster still didn't work, so I asked Camden if his leapster might have gotten wet. He replied, "Well, I took it into the bath with me to dunk it under water." "Why would you do that?" I replied (I seem to ask why as much as he does-although I already know the answer I'm going to get...)

"I just wanted to see what would happen." Says Camden

And there you have it. He now knows that water and electronics don't mix. I told him to please ask before he did an experiment to see what would happen and I would gladly either tell him, or let him try it out...but I'm sure someday the toaster will be taken apart or something like that just so he can see what is inside.....

I tied to save the leaspter by taking it apart myself and trying to get it all dry and clean off the corrosion with alcohol swabs, but I only got it to turn on for about 10 seconds, and then it would abruptly turn off. Luckily, leapster is kind enough to send us another one since it is so new-lucky us!

I scream...aaaahhhh, Parker screams...ahhhh...we all scream....ahhhhh. for ICE CREAM!!!!

The weather here is absolutely splendid! After that crazy heat wave at the beginning of the summer, we are enjoying the 80's! We were eating out on the deck last night, and I was sharing my ice cream cone with Parker, and he frowned every time I took it away to take a lick. So, I helped put the cone in his hand, and, what do you know, he had a ball eating ice cream! I'm not sure how much of it actaully made it IN to his mouth, but it was quite entertaining ;)

ALL DONE. He did make a bit of a mess, but it was totally worth it! Plus, look at him fattening up, he's starting to look like a real boy!

A video of all the fun! I had to get video of it because it was pretty funny. My only problem is that every time I would get the camera out, he stopped eating and looked at me. It took 3 takes to finally get him EATING the ice cream!

My boys are just SOOO cute ;)

I know, I know...from blog spying.... I'm aware that EVERYONE thinks their kids are the cutest kids in the whole world, but look how cute my boys are! I especially like the cute pics of Parker below-how cute are his little poses!?!?! I have determined that this is why everyone needs a mom and dad - to make them feel special. If every child just had an adult that thought they were the cutest, most awesome kid...think of all the world problems it would solve! No one really can do this better then a parent-so I am just doing my part to make the world a better place! :)
When I came in Parker's room the other day-he was just lounging there with his hands behind his head, it just cracked me up! I immediately left the room to get the camera, cuz who can pass up this photo op!
He sits on his own better every day! He still needs to be propped, but someday he'll be able to do it on his own. It's amazing the small milestones that you celebrate with a special needs child-you learn to appreciate the little things ;)

kindy graduation videos

I think these are cute...but be warned, they are of kindergarteners singing ;)

Graduation

Paul thinks that it is silly that they do preschool and kindergarten graduations, but I think that it's cute-and helps the kids with closure on the year ;) Plus, they are so cute in their little hats! Here are some pics of the kids for their respective graduations!

Look at those happy kids! Ready to move on to kindergarten and 1st grade!

My kid's teachers have been fantastic!!! I could not have asked for more caring, diligent teachers. Camden and Parker both learned SO much this year-and we owe it all to their fabulous, wonderful teachers! thank you to Mrs. Hyde and Ms. Peggy and their aides: Mrs. Lenzen, Ms. Phyllis and Ms. Dianne!

Because 5 of the 6 kids in Parker's class are moving on, they had a "5 little ducks" theme with none of them coming back. Camden and Parker are dancing for the last time to "Who Let the Dogs out," Parker's class song.

Camden with his classmates. I didn't realize until I saw this sign that Camden is the class of 2020-what a cool year! ...and how far away is that!!! They sang some cute little songs which I will download later (unless you are close family, you probably don't want to subject yourselves to kindergartners trying to sing a song while distracted by the audience! ;) I had a fun day watching my 2 little boys move 1 year ahead. I now officially have a real school year under my belt, and am ready to move to 1st grade! Oh my, they grow up quickly!

Bad Parker...or Bad mommy???

So the other day I was on the computer, generally ignoring the children. They both seemed to be happily entertaining themselves, so I was enjoying some more time to surf the web. anyways, I hear a rustle of the plant in the living room, and this is what I found:
Now mind you, I was IN the living room, not 10 feet away from him-completely oblivious to his antics. Well, needless to say, he was pretty proud of the mess he had made, and Camden thought that it was hilarious. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but his face was completely covered in a layer of dirt-I had to scrub it off in the bathtub! So, moral of the story: I guess I should pay more attention to my kids! Who would've thought that it would be this one in trouble! He gets more mobile and curious every day. I couldn't be mad at him for very long, look how cute he is! Thank goodness for blogging and scrapbooking, instead of being upset, I thought of what a great scrapbook page and blog post it would be :)

Parker and his new room

After recieving a comment, I thought I should blog a bit about Parker's new room. We moved him downstairs because he is just too heavy! I was worried about putting him in a different room and having him nap and sleep right next to the living room, but we bought this house for this very purpose, so we tried it. Parker LOVES his new room. He knew we had made a special room for him and was very excited. It's nice to have some of his toys and books in there so everything is so easily accessible to us. His room is right below ours, so its easy to hear him if he wakes up early or what not. The first night I put him to bed, I went back in to check on him a few minutes later and he was already asleep. I told his teachers at school about it and when they asked him about his new room ,his face just lit up! I'm glad that we used the same furniture for now so it wasn't too much of a transition-the next step will be a big boy bed (but it is really convenient for me to have him still in the crib). Our only problem....Camden! He was jealous of Parker's new room and that it was right by the living room where everyone was-I ended up buying him some new speed racer sheets so he wouldn't feel left out :)

Paint!!!

I bought paint for our main living area in the Fall of 2006, but couldn't figure out how to paint the 2-story living room and stairway. Well, simple solution, we hired someone! the next wekend, we moved Parker's room downstairs so we don've have to keep taking him up and down the stairs, and before we did that, I painted it. I also painted the downstairs bathroom-so here are
the pictures!
