Parker's casts are off

Parker is a free man!!!! OK, of his casts at least! Here's one last look at his casts-signed by all of his friends for luck:

And now they are off!!! Here are some pictures of my little chicken legged boy:

So, why is he wearing a camo cap in the pics? After we were done at the doctor's office, my aide took Parker out to the lobby while I checked out. A man saw Parker, and was kind of following them. He then asked if he could give Parker a gift. He went to his car and grabbed 2 caps. The military cap he said he wore in Iraq, and he had been kept safe, so he wanted Parker to have it for good luck. He grabbed his safari hat because it was cool. It was so sweet of him to think of my sweet baby boy :)

Parker's surgery

Parker had tendon lengthening surgery last Wednesday. His femurs are pulling out of his hip socket due to the constant pull of his muscles, so this will relax the muscles, hopefully putting his bone back in place. This surgery will also help with his overall tone in his legs, and hopefully, will help his walking (although recovery will be slow.)

If you are on facebook, you've seen all of these pics that I took on my phone, but for those of you that aren't...

Here's Parker in his cute little hospital gown (obviously unaware of what is going to happen next!)

Here's Parker getting wheeled off to surgery in a wagon. He was so excited for a wagon ride...but I'm not so sure he'll ever trust a wagon again...

Our hospital stay was miserable. Neither Parker nor I got any sleep all night-it was to bright and loud and not home. I was so happy when we got discharged the next day! Getting him home was a tricky proposition and we had to jerry-rig the carseat in order to make him comfortable for the drive home. Parker was falling asleep in the car, which I thought was really funny (since he hasn't slept in the car since he was like 2 months old), and tried to get a picture. Instead, I got a pic where his expression seems to say, "Seriously, mom, do you find this amusing?" :)

And here is a pic from yesterday. Parker is in a much happier mood! Now that some of the meds have worn off, he's sleepng well, and he realizes that he's getting pretty much all the attention he could ever want, he's a much happier camper! He has been such a trooper!

We have our next Dr. appt. on Aug 20-hopefully we'll get the casts off then. He will then be in foam cast for another 3 weeks, and then only some of the time. Here's to a speedy recovery!
