NC to FL to GA and home...

Last weekend, we continued our tour of I-95, but headed south this time for my Granddad's 80th birthday party! We left Thursday afternoon and made it to Waltersboro, an hour further then our plan of stopping in Florence, SC. We then woke up and got to Jacksonville around lunchtime. All the guys, and my mom, went golfing at Aunt Debi and Uncle Ron's club. Camden did some of Paul's putts for him and especially enjoyed driving the golf cart! I picked Shana and Courtney up from the airport and then we had an amazing dinner! My Aunt and Uncle grilled salmon on cedar planks - something we will definitely be repeating!!! My mom and dad left to pick up my grandparents, and then we stayed up way too late playing Wii and hanging out. Paul even got to play Wii for the first time :)

The next morning, we all headed to the beach. Camden and Parker had fun playing with their Aunts and Uncles.

We then got ready and went back for the big surprise!!! Unfortunately, it wasn't a total surprise to my Granddad since my Grandma had been in the hospital and it became pretty obvious that something was going on this weekend. But...he was surprised that ALL of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were there. My mom had this great idea where we all wrote memories we had with him and put them in a box, and then she read them out loud-it was fun to remember and a great way to honor him. We also watched a slide show my Granddad had made with a bunch of old pictures from his parents down to current day. We then had one of his favorite dinner - pot roast and mashed potatoes (he truly is a meat and potatoes guy) and then had carrot cake and cherry almond pie...yummmm.... We then again stayed up way too late playing Wii and euchre.
On Sunday, we all headed to church, and then took family pictures. We hung out for a while, and then we had to head back home - Camden was already missing his first day of school, Parker had surgery coming up and Paul had to get back to work! So we sadly said goodbye and headed back north. We decided to make a stop in Savannah to check it out-and went and ate on River Street. It was a neat historic city, probably worthy of a day trip someday.

We then got one more hour in before we turned in for the night. We then headed back home and here we are! Parker, again, did much better when we got off the freeway and took highways the last hour home-too bad there really is no back roads way to Jacksonville! And that was our trip-it has been a crazy month for traveling!
